Abstract：Objective To study the chemical constituents from the hypocotyls and fruits of Ceriops tagal and their biological activities. Methods The chemical constituents from the hypocotyls and fruits of Ceriop stagal were isolated and purified by the chromatography on silica gel, SephadexLH-20 and HPLC. Results Their structures were identified on the basis of comprehensive spectroscopic data analyses and comparison with literature data. Antibacterial activities of the compounds were evaluated. Results and Conclusion Nine compounds were isolated from the 95% EtOH extracts from the hypocotyls and fruits of C. tagal. We identified aslupeol (1), lupenone (2), 3-epi-betulinic acid (3), lup-20(29)-en-3-oxo-28-diol (4), betulin (5), 3β-(E)-feruloyllupeol (6), dioslupecin (7), ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3-ol (8) and 5, 8-epidioxy-5α, 8α-ergosta-6,22E-dien-3β-ol (9). Compounds 1~3, 5 and 9 showed antimicrobial acitivities and compound 9 showed moderate antimicrobial activities against B. subtilis and C. gloeosporioides with IC50 values of 0.025mg/mL.
